Sister Helen Marie Cronin, Sister of Christian Charity, entered eternal life on Thursday, March 5, 2020 at the Motherhouse in Mendham, New Jersey. Sr. Helen Marie was 94 years old.
Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on May 8,1925 Sister Helen Marie was the daughter of Michael and Mary (Quigy) Cronin.
Sister entered the community of the Sisters of Christian Charity on August 30,1942. She made her First Vows on August 21, 1945 and her Final Profession of Vows on August 20,1951.
Over the years Sister labored in the field of Catholic school education as an elementary and secondary Math and Science teacher, Dean of Academic Affairs, Director of Activities and Student Affairs in high schools in New Jersey and Pennsylvania, Principal at Bishop Neumann High School in Williamsport. She also was Dean at Assumption College for Sisters and Development Assistant in Mendham, NJ. In her later years she was a resident at Holy Family Convent in Danville, Pennsylvania until she transferred to the new Motherhouse in Mendham in May,2018.
Sister Helen Marie is survived by the Sisters of Christian Charity and several nieces and nephews.
Viewing at the Motherhouse will be on Friday, March 13, 2-4PM with Evening Prayer at 7PM.
Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, March 14, at 11AM in the chapel of Mary Immaculate at the Motherhouse in Mendham. Interment in Holy Cross Cemetery on the Motherhouse grounds will follow the Liturgy.
